March workshop with Julia Triston
The workshop involved stitching letters or words onto collaged backgrounds using upcycled materials. With much useful guidance and advice from Julia, we explored different text styles and ways of placing fabric letters to create a word or phrase, and techniques which included layering, collaging, appliqué, hand stitch and/or machine embroidery.
Much thought was needed in selecting suitable text and working out appropriate/interesting placement of the letters onto fabric. Of course, everyone’s piece was unique and different from others. A really fun and challenging day!
Carol said that Lotus cars had been a big part of her life. She has included her plan as well as the resulting stitchery.
