Couching
This month’s challenge comes courtesy of Judi, who has provided us with a vibrant and inspiring set of examples of couching.
Judi says, “I find ‘couching stitch’ to be one of the most versatile of embroidery techniques. The possibilities are endless; from attaching one yarn with another to anchoring objects such as washers, rings, twigs, small found objects …the list goes on!
“Once mastered, the stich is relatively simple, and can be so effective. The samples shown here display just a few of the various yarns and objects that can be ‘couched’ down. As long as a needle will go through the base ‘fabric’, there are no limits!”
