A meet and greet with Saturday’s tutor Jane Fairweather, textile artist

This will be an opportunity to see a display of some of Jane’s amazing work.  Not a talk as such, but Jane will also be available for questions – so do come prepared.

Jane says, “I have been creating since I was a teenager when I started by making my own clothes and later designed and made wedding attire including tiaras which were featured in leading bridal magazines.

“After taking early retirement I completed a City & Guilds in Creative Techniques in Textiles and gained a Distinction at Westhope College, Shropshire.

“In 2016, my “Tea-set Landscapes”, three-dimensional textile trees set in vintage pieces of china, were the centrepiece of an exhibition organised by the Embroiderers’ Guild to celebrate the 300^th anniversary of the birth of Capability Brown at the National Trust’s Berrington Hall in Herefordshire.

“Much of my inspiration comes from the beautiful south Shropshire countryside where I live, and in particular, my one acre garden which has been opened under the National Garden Scheme.

“My work has been featured in “Embroidery”, “Be Creative with Workbox”, “Patchwork and Quilting” and “Inspirations” an Australian magazine.  My work was also showcased in Cas Holmes’ book, “Textile Landscapes”.

“I was the Chair of my local Embroiderers’ Guild branch in south Shropshire and am currently Chair of our new independent group, Marches Stitch & Textile Art.”
