Members Day – ‘Take Two’
10 April 2021 @ 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
The day will involve two Zoom sessions, the morning meeting is 9:45 for 10:00 am start and will include a short progress report re setting up of our new independent group called Warwickshire Stitchers followed by ideas for the day’s stitch activity.
The afternoon meeting 2.45 for 3:00 pm, will be a members show and tell session, following a mornings stitching at home.
The day is suitable for hand or machine stitchers and for all levels of experience.
In the morning session a short PowerPoint presentation will be shown (put together using work produced by the travelling book group). It will show examples and give ideas for the days stitching. Note – we are not expecting finished pieces to be shown at the show and tell session.
Take Two
What is the day about? – take something you have made previously and begin the process of making it again, but differently. There are lots of ways of approaching this….. it may be that you could have ‘done a better job’, or you enjoyed making something the first time and would like to repeat it using different colours or fabrics.
Alternatively, if you don’t already have a suitable existing piece, you may draw a simple shape (such as a bird or an apple) and then replicate it in stitch so that one may be hand stitched and one machine stitched.
Note: ideally, you should use an existing piece (possibly made some time ago) as a basis to produce a new piece – you are only starting a SECOND (not doing two).
Keep it simple…. we are not expecting complicated landscapes.
Our ‘member days’ are designed to encourage you to try something new and, possibly, to learn from what others show.
Please help…. the more people that take part the more enjoyable the show and tell sessions are.
If you would rather not say anything during the show and tell session, this is absolutely fine, you can let us know at the start of the meeting.
Zoom invites will be sent out to all registered Zoom users by the end of Wednesday 7th April 2021.
