Zoom talk: Tart’s Travels with Lindsay Roberts

Lindsay says: “I trade as The Border Tart, hand dyeing natural fibre yarns primarily with indigo, and creating small edition stitching kits. Trained in textile design, I knitted, stitched, and spun in my spare time until committing to life as The Border Tart about 15 years ago.
“A residency in India ten years ago gave me the confidence to begin indigo dyeing and to incorporate Indian block prints and stitching styles in my work. Since Covid hit, I have almost stopped attending large textile fairs across the country and focus on selling through my website and running workshops.” |
| In today’s talk: textiles and artisans in the northwest of India and beyond – first encountered during a creative residency. A story of glorious colour, pattern and lessons learned, told through my images and travel tales, with close-ups of sample textiles.
