Zoom Workshop: Kantha Stitching with Lindsay Roberts

Lindsay will be with us on Zoom for 2 hours, demonstrating her approach to Kantha stitching and will provide us with templates and ideas to continue the work.

After her demonstration the Zoom session will be kept open to stitch and chat.  

Please note: the usual fee is reduced to £15 for this workshop.

Using embroidery threads, we explore some of the striking decorative effects this humble stitch can achieve. Fill your panel with a range of patterns in subtle, bold, or clashing shades and enjoy making a ‘perfectly imperfect’ piece by hand.

Materials…  Please have ready …

• 2 pieces of plain coloured cotton poplin or washed calico – each no smaller than 20cm x 20cm
• 2 pieces of any plain lightweight fabric of the same size, to act as a second layer.
  • Tack each front fabric to a lining piece – to give you two pairs to stitch into
• Your choice of 3 or 4 shades of stranded embroidery cottons, and a suitable needle for one or two strands at a time
• A ruler, a glass to draw round and an ordinary pencil or removable embroidery pencil
